Chitosan-Based Sustainable Coatings for Corrosion Inhibition of Aluminum in Seawater

Metals are widely used in various industrial applications due to their advantageous properties, but they often exhibit signs of degradation over time because prolonged exposure environmental conditions. To prevent corrosion, coatings have gained popularity owing practicality maintaining the original shape and dimensions object being protected. Nevertheless, traditional may pose significant toxicological concerns, leading researchers explore eco-friendly alternatives such as chitosan-based coatings. Chitosan, a biopolymer derived from chitin, is abundant nature has been extensively studied for its physicochemical including potential development new materials. Chitosan-based shown promise effective corrosion inhibitors, this study aims develop crosslinked coating shrimp waste an alternative expensive, commercial chemically modified polyethylene glycol, polyvinylpyrrolidone, ammonium paratungstate chitosan high- medium molecular weight prepared by sol-gel technique, were protection aluminum 3.5% synthetic seawater.
